Half of the world's population is infected with Toxoplasma. Flip a coin!
Its a parasite that infects rats. Yeah, so? Who cares Reiku? I'll tell you why.
Unlike most pesky shit you could care less about, such as fleas, ticks, dead african kids, etc.
The parasite affects a rat's brain. It fucks it up major. Like when you drop acid and meet God.
It makes it so that the rat is attracted to cats, to a point where it forgets that the cat is a prey. Thats not the creepy part. It knows that in order to breed it must get into the cat's guts so it alters commands into the rat's mind in order to do so making the rat programmed to get itself killed without being aware. This doesn't nessasarily affect us although in recent studies schizophrenia has been linked with Toxaplasma in humans. A similar strain has also been found in grasshoppers. Its only a matter of time before this strain evolves and we all turn into suicidal apeshit zombies.

A fine candidate for the daily dose of neurotic paranoia if there ever was one. Creepy how it takes control of a brain and makes the host attracted to its predators, like suicide so it can spread. I, for one, will be preparing my bunker for the impending zombie apocalypse.

There really isn't a need for a zombie bunker. I mean, it makes the infected people want to be killed by predators which will eat them. I don't really see that as a direct threat to the uninfected.
